Model Legislature
Students learn how to participate in the Winona Model Legislature, typically held on the second or third Thursday and Friday in November at Winona State University. Students will learn the process of how a bill becomes a law in the state of Minnesota and, indirectly, Washington, D.C.. Through the mock legislature, the students use Robert's Rules of Law and Order to select, research, and then navigate their bill through the legislative process.
Students who are passionate about current topics and want to understand how to affect the world around them will be excited to participate. Students will get to work with students from around southeast Minnesota including students from Rushford, Winona, WSU, and Minnesota State College Southeast.
