Baseball
5th and 6th grade boys will work on their skills and play intramural games. This year our program will align with the practice drills and skills that the Winhawk High School teams follow. Our goal is for the kids to have fun, but also prepare them for their competitive middle school baseball season.
In case of inclement weather, we may start this program indoors conditioning at the Winona Middle School pool/fitness center.
Basketball
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive - BOYS
5th and 6th grade boys will practice skills, drills, and ball control. Teams will be formed and intramural games will be played. Emphasis will be on preparing participants for competitive play as 7th graders. Practice will be held at W-K Elementary. Students will be bused to W-K. Parents must pick up at the end of practice at W-K.
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive - GIRLS
5th and 6th grade girls will practice skills, drills, and ball control. Teams will be formed and intramural games will be played. Emphasis will be on preparing participants for competitive play as 7th graders. Practice will be held at Jefferson Elementary. Students will be bused to Jefferson. Parents must pick up at the end of practice at Jefferson.
7th-8th Grade Competitive
Boys basketball practice starts at the end of October, while the girls start right after winter break. All practices are at Winona Middle School and begin right after the school day. Grade 8 plays in the big gym, while Grade 7 plays in the small gym. The season consists of 12-16 games against teams in the surrounding areas. The teams play in the Three Rivers Conference (Wisconsin).
The boys team plays first (October-December), then the girls team (January-March).

Basketball Camps
Saturday Girls Basketball Skills Camp
This Saturday Skills Girls Basketball Camp will be a 1.5 hour session working on ball handling, footwork, and shooting from Coach K, the JV girls basketball coach. This camp is meant for all skill levels and will build an athlete's confidence in the game while having some fun competition.
There will be three separate sessions:
- Grades 3-4 (1-2:30 p.m.)
- Grades 5-6 (2:30-4 p.m.)
- Grades 7-8 (4-5:30 p.m.)
The dates for the camp are from March 18-May 20.
This camp will be held at the Winona Senior High School on all dates except April 15. On April 15, the camp will be held at the Winona Middle School.
Cheerleading
5th-8th Grade Noncompetitive
Grab your tennis shoes, shorts and get your best cheer moves ready. Cheerleaders will practice two times a week. They will work on cheers, kicks, formations, and above all, have FUN! Uniforms will be provided while they cheer at a 7th and an 8th grade home football game. No experience is necessary. Show your Winhawk school spirit and get ready to "Bring It On!"
Cross Country
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
It’s time to find your stride! Students will run daily, short and long distances. Participants will run a 5K early on to test their time, and again at season’s end to gauge their improvement. Runners will encourage each other and learn to run as a team. Grab your shoes, make sure they are laced, it’s time to find your Winhawk pace!
7th-8th Grade Competitive
All runners, male and female, will practice and compete with the high school team as grades 7-12 are all part of the same program. Practice typically starts on the second Monday in August and will start at the high school. Our only home meet will be held in Winona towards the end of September each year. Each meet has different races based on ability, so all runners (7-12) will run in the same meets. Up to date information can be found in the middle school or high school activities offices or on the Cross Country Website.

Dance Team
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
Do you love to dance? We will teach you the basics of hip hop, jazz, and high kick dance. Dance team is for dancers of all levels and experience. There will be a performance for parents at season’s end to show off what participants have learned.
7th-8th Grade Competitive
The competitive dance season starts at the end of October. Girls can choose to participate in Jazz, Kick or both. Practices are held in a number of places within the district. Our home met is held at the high school. The season consists of 6-10 competitions including Big 9, sections and possibly State.

5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive Flag Football
Are you ready for some football? Do you love football, but tackle football isn't quite for your? Flag football participants will learn the basics of football: throwing, receiving, kicking, etc. Teams will be formed and games will be played. Teams will develop plays with the help of their coach. Athletes will have the opportunity to play and learn different positions.
7th-8th Competitive Football
All practices are at the Winona Middle School and home games are played at the High School or Paul Giel. The season consists of approximately 6-8 games from teams in the surrounding areas. Football plays in the Big 9 Conference. We have both a 7th grade and 8th grade team. Up-to-date information can be found in the middle school or high school activities offices.

Golf
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
Let's go golfing! This class is designed for students who possess basic golf skills and know the etiquette of the game. During this session, the goal will be to improve your skills. This class is not intended for beginners. Participants will be transported to Cedar Valley Golf Course via a route bus. Students will practice on the driving range, putting green, and play holes on the Monster course. Parents MUST pick up their child at the Golf Course. Participants must provide their own clubs and golf balls (which can be stored at Cedar Valley during this session).
7th-8th Grade Competitive
All golfers, male and female, will practice and play with the high school team. We do not offer middle school teams. Practice typically starts on the third Monday in March and if indoors, will be in the high school wrestling room. Once outdoor, we practice and play at The Bridges. Once finalized, schedules can be found on Big 9 Conference. Up to date information can be found in the middle school or high school activities offices.

Gymnastics
7th-8th Grade Competitive
Gymnastics practice starts around the third Monday in November. All practices are at Kidsport. (WInona Mall) Home meets are held in the large Middle School Gym. We have a Varsity and JV team. All middle school gymnasts would compete on one of those two teams. Once finalized, schedules can be found on Big 9 Conference. Ice Hockey
7th-8th Grade Competitive
The girls ice hockey practice starts during the last week of October while the boys ice hockey practice starts around the second week of November. All practices are at the Winona Bud King Ice Arena and practice time will be determined by the rink schedule. The girls season lasts until approximately the end of January where playoffs will start; while the boys season will last through mid February and then their playoffs will start. The season consists of approximately 25 games and playoffs. Students in 7th and 8th grade that choose this option will play with the high school teams. Those that do not want to play for the high school this early should talk with a high school coach, the activities director, or the Winona Youth Hockey Association for other options. .

Nordic Ski
7th-8th Grade Competitive
All Nordic Skiers, male and female, will practice and compete with the high school team. We do not offer middle school teams. Practice typically starts on the third Monday in November. Until we receive snow, the teams will practice with roller skies around the high school. Once we have adequate snow, the team will move practices and all home meets to St. Mary's University. We do have equipment for any person that would like to try Nordic Skiing but does not want to invest in equipment of their own. Once finalized, schedules can be found on Big 9 Conference. 7th-8th Grade Competitive
Soccer practice starts around the second week in August. All practices are at the high school or Paul Giel. The season consist of approximately 8-16 games from team in the surrounding areas. Swimming
5th-6th Grade Co-Ed Noncompetitive
Calling all swimmers! Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced, you are encouraged to join. Swimmers will learn new strokes or perfect the ones they already know. There will also be plenty of fun time as well. Our coaches are qualified instructors and lifeguards. Bring a suit and a towel from home and let's jump on in!
7th-8th Grade Competitive - Swim & Dive
All Swimmers and Divers, male and female, will practice and compete in the high school pool if you are a swimmer and at the middle school pool if you are a diver. We do not offer middle school teams. Practice typically starts on the third Monday in August for the female Swim and Dive Team and the last Monday in November for the male Swim and Dive Team. Tennis
5th-6th Grade Co-Ed Noncompetitive
Grab your racket and let's head to the court! This program is for all tennis levels. Participants will work on new skills while perfecting their current ones. You will play intramural games against your friends, new and old. Transportation will be provided from the Winona Middle School to the Lake Park tennis courts. Parents will need to pick up their student from the practice site.
7th-8th Grade Competitive
All tennis players, male and female, will practice and play with the high school team. We do not offer middle school teams. Practice typically starts on the third Monday in August for the female tennis players and the third Monday in March for the male tennis players. Our home courts are at the middle school, but we also play JV at the Bandshell Courts (Lake Park) and at Cotter if the weather is bad. 5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
Are you good at running, jumping, and throwing? If so, track is the sport for you. There is an event for everyone in this sport. This event is open to all 5th and 6th grade boys and girls who want to learn about the variety of events track has to offer. This is also a great way to get in shape. Grab your tennis shoes and join the fun!
7th-8th Grade Competitive
Track and Field will start around the middle of March. All practices will be at the high school and meets will be held at Paul Giel Field. We compete in the Three Rivers Conference and will attend the conference championship every year. Typically, we attend 5-6 meets a season. 5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
It's time to get your bump, set, spike going! Volleyball players, whether you know the game or not, are encouraged to join. This popular girls sport will keep you moving while you learn and perfect your skills. If you hope to play Winhawk volleyball someday, this is the starting point for you. Winona Area Youth Wrestling Warriors Warehouse
Warriors Warehouse is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through 6th grade. This is a chance to learn some basic wrestling skills, get some great exercise, and have FUN! Coaches for this program will be John Alexander and Bill Schmidt. Helping out will be Joe Hoialmen and his current high school wrestlers and staff.
Mondays are geared towards experienced wrestlers led by Coach Alexander. Tuesdays are for NEW wrestlers led by Coach Schmidt. Wednesdays are for everyone to learn extra drills and play games. Who likes dodge ball?

Archery
5th-8th Grade Noncompetitive
This program will be directed by the National Archery in the Schools (NASP) and DNR certified instructors. It is available to beginner and experienced archers and will follow the NASP safety, instructional, and shooting format.
Participants will use the Genesis bows and supplies provided by the club. Students may ride the bus to Ridgeway and MUST be picked up by parents when done. You must be preregistered for this class. For more information go to www.archeryintheschools.org

Drama Club (sponsored by Community Education) will be performing a fairytale production on March 31 and April 1.
All 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are invited to join us!
Auditions will be held in December; everyone who auditions will be given a part.
Not comfortable on stage? We have a place for Drama Club members who want to work backstage or in the light/sound booth.
Additional fall meeting dates will be announced in August. Students' rehearsal schedules will vary according to their character. Attendance at rehearsals is critical in order to produce a quality show and Drama Club takes a lot of time and commitment. Register now ... don't miss your curtain call!

Do you have a wild imagination? Have you ever wanted to become the awesome heroes we read in stories? Are you looking for a space to hang out with friends who share your interests of using your imagination to have fun? Then Dungeons & Dragons (D & D) Club is exactly what you're looking for! Dungeons & Dragons is one of many types of tabletop role playing games where friends work together to solve problems, overcome conflict, take on different roles from their own personality, and there's even a hint of practicing basic math. D & D Club at the WMS is a safe place for students to step out of their comfort zone and play the fantastical heroes they've always dreamed of becoming.
FFA
The Winona FFA is a Youth Leadership Group at Winona Senior High that is open to students in grades 7-12. The chapter is active all year and meets at 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of every month in the WSHS Agriculture Building. It's time to get your "A" game on! After School Activities hosts an after school homework club for students to get help. The club is staffed by college students. Stay for a bit and get a start on your homework, or you can stay the entire time and keep working. Students must sign up daily in the After School Activities Office if you wish to attend. The Helping Hands Club offers students a great opportunity to make a difference in their community. Join our instructor as students decide, plan, and implement their commitment to our community. Lego Club
Robotics Club
Students in grades 7-12 are invited to join Winona Ramhawk Robotics for the fall season. The team designs, constructs and programs a small robot to compete in competitions. Meetings are held in the Agriculture Building at WSHS on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-6:30 p.m. An activity bus transports WMS students to WSHS. No prior experience is necessary.

Boys Basketball Camp (Grades 2-9)
The Winona Winhawk Boys Basketball Camp is an all-around skill development camp that provides athletes the opportunity to improve their ball handling, shooting, offensive skills, and defensive skills. We are excited to have our current Winhawk basketball team be a part of this camp again this year. Our camp offers a variety of different games and challenges for the boys to compete in. We hope to see you there! There will be a camp for boys in Grades 2-4 and a camp for boys in Grades 5-9. Fee includes a camp t-shirt. Register by June 1 to be guaranteed a shirt.

Private Lessons (Grades 7-12)
Come work one-on-one with McKenzie Hoelmenn (Coach K), the Winona Winhawks JV basketball coach, on all around basketball skill development. McKenzie went on to play Division 1 basketball at Northern Illinois University back in 2012 and continued her career at Minnesota State University, Mankato. McKenzie worked in the Cities for Minnesota School of Basketball (MSB) for 9+ years working one-on-one, small groups, and teams of athletes developing their skills. MSB focused on individual athlete needs and developing their ball handling skills, footwork, and shooting form.
McKenzie is excited to bring this opportunity for girls here in Winona. Sign up day-by-day for one hour lessons working with Coach K. Let's build some confidence and love for the game!
Dance Team Summer Training

All students in grades 7-12 who want to prepare for the upcoming competitive dance team season. The fee includes six ballet sessions, conditioning workshop, technique intensive, plus technique work in preparation for the upcoming dance team season.

Winona Senior High School Gym
Technique Intensive on June 22 will be instructed by Jenny Raiche, Head Coach of the Eastview Lightning Dance Team. Intensive will include kick and jazz technique exercises and drills. Lunch will be included.
Conditioning Workshop on June 29 will be instructed by Katie Groven of Dancer Fitness. This workshop will help dancers create a custom training plan to meet their individual conditioning needs.
Football
Come and experience the exciting environment of Winhawk Football at its finest. Athletes will be instructed on the fundamentals of the game of football by current Winhawk players and coaches. Along with the on-field teaching, athletes will be introduced to the WINHAWK WAY character development program through daily lessons. There is no doubt that players will leave camp feeling further developed in their playing abilities as well as feeling excited about their future role in the Winhawk Football Family. Go Winhawks!
Youth 7 on 7 League (Grades K-6): League will start with skills required to play the game of football. Daily games of 7 on 7 will allow all players to use their skills to play the game of football, including offensive and defensive. Athletes will be divided based on grade and skill level.
Camp (Grades 7-12): Individual and group instruction, position specific instruction, emphasis on the FUNDAMENTALS, individual and team competition, high school coaches and middle school coaches. End of camp celebration from 11-noon on the last day! There will be a camp for Grades 7-8 and a camp for Grades 9-12.

Volleyball Camps (Grades 5-12)
There will be two separate camps, one for Grades 5-7 and one for Grades 8-12 for the upcoming school year. Jackie Kiecker, Chris Rohde, and Corey Phelps will be running this year's camp. Camp will be focusing on individual skills as well as team concepts. We will teach lessons on how to develop: basic skills and knowledge of the game, strong team culture, healthy lasting relationships with teammates and coaches, confidence on and off the court, strong character, growth mindset, and mental toughness.

Players will work on fundamentals of the game including passing, setting, and serving. We will include 3 v.3, 4 v.4, and 6 v.6 structured competitive situations, station work, and offensive and defensive positioning work. The last day of camp will include contests and awards. This camp is for students entering grades 1-6. The fee for camp includes a t-shirt.

These camp dates will help players focus on skills specific to their positions and give players opportunities to use the skills in 4 v.4 and 6 v.6 game-like situations. Players will gain knowledge of the game and be provided individualized instruction. There is no camp on July 5. This camp is for girls entering 7-12 grade.

Winona Area Running (Grades 4-12)
Kick off your summer running program! Community Education is teaming up with local cross country coaches, track coaches, and runners to offer a four-day running camp. Learn how to run from the best coaches and runners in our area. Topics covered: physical and mental aspects of running, goal setting, evaluate running form, training techniques, and guest speakers. Students will meet at Saint Mary's University: Meet outside Brother Jerome Rademacher Nordic Ski Center/back of Leopold Hall. Go past main entrance and take a left on Gilmore Valley Road. Take a left into the orange parking lot. The fee includes a camp t-shirt.
There will be two camps: one for Grades 4-8 and one for Grades 9-12.

Child & Babysitting Safety Class
Child & Babysitting Safety Class (Grades 4-8)
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, and the colorful magazine format of the student book makes learning fun. From getting started with your business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. This class is open to all students entering 4th-8th grade (boys and girls).
Home Alone
Home Alone (Grades 3 and up)
Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared. This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child. This class is open to all students entering 3rd grade and up (boys and girls).
Board & Brushes
Board & Brushes (Grades 2-6)
Come and join the painting fun with Backyard Brushes. Participants will paint a memorable creation on canvas (June 23) or on boards (July 19). Sign up for one or both classes. Each project will be unique. Students will be instructed step-by-step so their project turns out great. Refreshments will be provided.
