Baseball
5th and 6th grade boys will work on their skills and play intramural games. This year our program will align with the practice drills and skills that the Winhawk High School teams follow. Our goal is for the kids to have fun, but also prepare them for their competitive middle school baseball season.
In case of inclement weather, we may start this program indoors conditioning at the Winona Middle School pool/fitness center.
Basketball
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
5th and 6th grade boys and will practice skills, drills, and ball control. Teams will be formed and intramural games will be played. Emphasis will be on preparing participants for competitive play as 7th graders. Practice will be held at the Winona Middle School.
7th-8th Grade Intramural Program
Due to COVID restrictions, the 7th and 8th grade boys and girls basketball programs are not able to participate in the Three Rivers Conference (WI). 7th and 8th grade boys and girls basketball will be an in-house intramural program this year. This program is designed to enhance skill level and prepare athletes for play at the high school level. This program will begin on February 1st.

Boys basketball practice starts at the end of October, while the girls start right after Winter Break. All practices are at the Winona Middle School right after school. The 8th grade plays in the big gym while the 7th grade plays in the small gym. The season consist of approximately 12-16 games from team in the surrounding areas. Basketball plays in the Three Rivers Conference (Wisconsin). We have both a 7th grade and 8th grade teams.
Cheerleading
Cross Country
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
Students will run daily, short and long distances. They will run a 5K early on to test their time, and again at season’s end to gauge their improvement. They will encourage each other and learn to run as a team.
7th-8th Grade Competitive
All runners, male and female, will practice and play with the high school team. We do not offer middle school teams. Practice typically starts on the second Monday in August and will start at the high school. Our lone home meet will be held at St. Mary's University. All runners, no matter ability will run in meets. Up to date information can be found in the middle school or high school activities offices.

Dance Team
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
We will teach you the basics of hip hop, jazz, and high kick dance. Dance team is for dancers of all levels and experience. There will be a performance for parents at season’s end to show off what participants have learned.
7th-8th Grade Competitive
The competitive dance season starts at the end of October. Girls can choose to participate in Jazz, Kick or both. Practices are held in a number of places within the district. Our home met is held at the high school. The season consists of 6-10 competitions including Big 9, sections and possibly State.

Boys and girls in seventh and eighth grade are encouraged to come and prepare for a sport or develop a healthy lifestyle. All students must have a registration and parent permission slip turned into After School Activities, as well as a Sports Physical before they can participate. Students must sign up each day in the After School Activities Office to be able to attend.
Football
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive Flag Football
Students will learn the basics of football: throwing, receiving, kicking, etc. Teams will be formed and games will be played. Teams will develop plays with the help of their coach. Participants will have the opportunity to play and learn different positions.
7th-8th Competitive Football
Football practice starts around the first day of school. All practices are at the Winona Middle School and home games are played at the High School or Paul Giel. The season consist of approximately 6-8 games from team in the surrounding areas. Football plays in the Three Rivers Conference (Wisconsin). We have both a 7th grade and 8th grade team. Floor Hockey
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
Get ready to face-off! Floor hockey is coming your way. Students will learn and play the game of true floor hockey. Teams will be formed for games. This is for boys and girls of all levels.
7th-8th Grade Competitive
Adaptive Floor Hockey season start in November. Practices take place on Monday's and Wednesday's and games are typically on Monday's and Wednesday's as well. All practices are at the Winona Middle School small gym and games are at the Winona Middle School Large gym. If interested in playing, please talk with the head coach to see if you qualify. Golf
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
Let's go golfing! This class is designed for students who possess basic golf skills and know the etiquette of the game. During this session, the goal will be to improve your skills. This class is not intended for beginners. Participants will be transported to Cedar Valley Golf Course via a route bus. Students will practice on the driving range, putting green, and play holes on the Monster course. Parents MUST pick up their child at the Golf Course. Participants must provide their own clubs and golf balls (which can be stored at Cedar Valley during this session).
7th-8th Grade Competitive
All golfers, male and female, will practice and play with the high school team. We do not offer middle school teams. Practice typically starts on the third Monday in March and if indoors, will be in the high school wrestling room. Once outdoor, we practice and play at The Bridges. Gymnastics
7th-8th Grade Competitive
Gymnastics practice starts around the third Monday in November. All practices are at Kidsport. (WInona Mall) Home meets are held in the large Middle School Gym. We have a Varsity and JV team. All middle school gymnasts would compete on one of those two teams. Once finalized, schedules can be found on Big 9 Conference. Ice Hockey
7th-8th Grade Competitive
The girls ice hockey practice starts during the last week of October while the boys ice hockey practice starts around the second week of November. All practices are at the Winona Bud King Ice Arena and practice time will be determined by the rink schedule. The girls season lasts until approximately the end of January where playoffs will start; while the boys season will last through mid February and then their playoffs will start. The season consists of approximately 25 games and playoffs. Students in 7th and 8th grade that choose this option will play with the high school teams. Those that do not want to play for the high school this early should talk with a high school coach, the activities director, or the Winona Youth Hockey Association for other options. .

Nordic Ski
7th-8th Grade Competitive
All Nordic Skiers, male and female, will practice and compete with the high school team. We do not offer middle school teams. Practice typically starts on the third Monday in November. Until we receive snow, the teams will practice with roller skies around the high school. Once we have adequate snow, the team will move practices and all home meets to St. Mary's University. We do have equipment for any person that would like to try Nordic Skiing but does not want to invest in equipment of their own. Once finalized, schedules can be found on Big 9 Conference. Are you a soccer fanatic, or are you just interested in learning the game? Either way, soccer is a great game to play. Students will be taught the basics of soccer and ball control. They will run drills, work on skills, and play games. Participants will play different positions so they can find their niche. Grab your shin guards and let the games begin!
7th-8th Grade Competitive

Swimmers will learn new strokes or perfect the ones they already know. Our coaches are qualified instructors and lifeguards. Grab your suit and towel and jump on in.
7th-8th Grade Competitive - Swim & Dive
All Swimmers and Divers, male and female, will practice and compete in the high school pool if you are a swimmer and at the middle school pool if you are a diver.. We do not offer middle school teams. Practice typically starts on the third Monday in August for the female Swim and Dive Team and the last Monday in November for the male Swim and Dive Team. Tennis
5th-6th Grade Noncompetitive
Calling all tennis players! Now is your chance to learn to play the game of tennis or improve your existing game. This program is for ALL tennis levels. Participants will work on new skills while perfecting their current ones. You will play intramural games against your friends, new and old. Transportation will be provided from the Winona Middle School to the Lake Park Tennis Courts. Parents will need to pick up your student from the practice site. Grab your racket and let's hit the court!
7th-8th Grade Competitive
All tennis players, male and female, will practice and play with the high school team. We do not offer middle school teams. Practice typically starts on the third Monday in August for the female tennis players and the third Monday in March for the male tennis players. Our home courts are at the middle school, but we also play JV at the Bandshell Courts (Lake Park) and at Cotter if the weather is bad. Are you good at running, jumping, and throwing? If so, track is the sport for you. There is an event for everyone in this sport. This event is open to all 5th and 6th grade boys and girls who want to learn about the variety of events track has to offer. This is also a great way to get in shape. Grab your tennis shoes and join the fun!
7th-8th Grade Competitive
Track and Field will start around the middle of March. All practices will be at the high school and meets will be held at Paul Giel Field. We compete in the Three Rivers Conference and will attend the conference championship every year. Typically, we attend 5-6 meets a season. Archery

5th-8th Grade Noncompetitive
This program will be directed by the National Archery in the Schools (NASP) and DNR certified instructors. It is available to beginner and experienced archers and will follow the NASP safety, instructional, and shooting format.
Participants will use the Genesis bows and supplies provided by the club. Students may ride the bus to Ridgeway and MUST be picked up by parents when done. You must be preregistered for this class. For more information go to www.archeryintheschools.org

6th - 8th Grade
The goal of Drama Club is to have fun while we work as a team to increase stage comfort, enhance acting skills, improve vocal abilities and projection, and perform in front of family, friends, neighbors, and complete strangers! Auditions will be held in December; everyone who auditions will be given a part. More males are always needed and are strongly encouraged to join. Please note, required additional fall meeting dates will be announced on the website and at the start of the school year. The fall rehearsal dates build the foundation of the cast and the play. Not comfortable on stage? We have a place for Drama Club members who want to work backstage or in the light and sound booth. Students' rehearsal schedules will vary according to their character. Attendance at rehearsals is critical in order to produce a quality show and Drama Club takes a lot of time and commitment.
FFA
The Winona FFA is a Youth Leadership Group at Winona Senior High that is open to students in grades 7-12. The chapter is active all year and meets at 7:30 p.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of every month in the WSHS Agriculture Buiding. Hawk Help Club
It's time to get your "A" game on! After School Activities hosts an after school homework club for students to get help. The club is staffed by college students. Stay for a bit and get a start on your homework, or you can stay the entire time and keep working. Students must sign up daily in the After School Activities Office if you wish to attend. Helping Hands
The Helping Hands Club offers students a great opportunity to make a difference in their community. Join our instructor as students decide, plan, and implement their commitment to our community. Students will build self-esteem and make new friends as they accomplish group goals. This group will meet on Tuesdays for the beginning of this session. When we return to class after spring break, we will be meeting on Thursdays. Sign up now, it's never too late to lend a Helping Hand!

This year’s drama club is one like no other! Over the spring we will learn acting techniques, basic playwriting, and theater performance. With two sections (either Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday), every student involved will be able to have their own role as writer, director, and actor! We will be creating 2-3 original scripts, then filming our performances and sharing them with one another and the public. This is one club you won’t want to miss.
Robotics Club
Students in grades 7-12 are invited to join Winona Ramhawk Robotics for the fall season. The team designs, constructs and programs a small robot to compete in competitions. Meetings are held in the Agriculture Building at WSHS on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4-6:30 p.m. An activity bus transports WMS students to WSHS. No prior experience is necessary.
Strategic Gaming Club

Play challenging board and card games with your friends and learn about strategy, critical thinking, conflict, and cooperation. We will play chess, checkers, Uno, and many other games. This club is for boys and girls of all gaming levels.

Boys Basketball Camp
The Winona Winhawk Boys Basketball Camp is an all-around skill development camp that provides athletes the opportunity to improve their ball handling, shooting, offensive skills, and defensive skills. We are excited to have our current Winhawk basketball team be a part of this camp again this year. Our camp offers a variety of different games and challenges for the boys to compete in. New to this year, our final camp day will be called "Championship Friday". Friday will consist of gameplay all day and awards to follow. We hope to see you there!

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, MAY 29. Multiple training levels makes Solospike appropriate for all ages and skill levels. Athletes will train in a small group environment under the direction of a Certified Solospike Instructor. Pre/post testing, digital video analysis and player evaluations are completed for each athlete. With the use of video technology and Solospike's advanced hitting system, this program provides our staff and athletes with the tools to develop long term changes in dynamic hitting and ball control mechanics and the development of muscle memory through focused repetitions. The program also includes live ball hitting on the net. Each session is 90 minutes long. The instructor will contact you for any make-up sessions.

This program is designed for beginners who would like to learn the fundamentals of tennis. The focus of this camp will be on tennis basics: forehand, backhands, serves, volleys, body movement, and game-based drills, along with a lot of fun. This program will expand on basic tennis fundamentals, utilizing different types of spins and player preparation for better control and consistency. Geared for the serious competitive player ready to take their game to the next level. Focus on stroke dependability, ball placement/control and advanced drills for tactical play and principles to increase level of play. Players in the High School/Junior Varsity Camp will be involved with competitive singles and doubles match play with other campers. Conditioning, mental toughness, developing patterns of play and court awareness, along with good sportsmanship will be emphasized. There will be 10 players to 1 coach with a limit of 30 participants. This volleyball camp is offered to all students going into grades 7-12 for the upcoming school year. Jackie Kiecker, Corey Phelps, and Chris Rohde will be running this year's camp. Camp will be focusing on individual skills as well as team concepts. Camp will run from 8:30-11:00 a.m. and 12:00-2:00 p.m. Lunch will NOT be provided.
Winona Area Running (TBD for 2020)
Kick off your summer running program! Community Education is teaming up with local cross country coaches, track coaches, and runners to offer a four-day running camp. Learn how to run from the best coaches and runners in our area. Topics covered: physical and mental aspects of running, goal setting, evaluate running form, training techniques, and guest speakers. Students will meet at Saint Mary's University (Brother Jerome Rademacher Nordic Ski Center/back of Leopold Hall). Go past main entrance and take a left on Gilmore Avenue. Take a left into the orange parking lot. The fee includes a camp t-shirt.

Child & Babysitting Safety Class (canceled for 2020)
Learn the responsibilities of being a babysitter. Topics include starting your own babysitting business, child development, proper feeding & diapering techniques, personal safety, medical emergencies, basic first aid care, and fire safety. The CABS book (yours to keep) and the course were developed by the American Safety and Health Institute and approved by the American Pediatrics Association. The instructor is Lori Hameister. This class is for boys and girls entering 4th through 8th grade.

Community Education is working with the Youth Enrichment League (YEL) to bring fencing classes to Winona. Olympic Coach Ro Sobalvarro now heads up the curriculum, instructor training, and tournament consultation. Instructors bring knowledge, refined coaching skills, and favorite fencing games and arm bands. Safety is their first priority. The YEL will supply safety swords, protective masks, chest plates, and jackets in a high-octane, inclusive environment. They will keep it fun too!

Home Alone (canceled for 2020)
Just mention the words "Home Alone," and children think of the excitement depicted in the movies of the same name. The reality of being home alone can evoke fear and anxiety in many children. Whether left alone for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, children should feel comfortable being alone. This workshop for children will address several topics related to being "Home Alone". Topics include personal safety tips, stranger danger, basic first aid, fire safety, handling the unexpected, internet safety, dealing with loneliness and boredom, storm safety, dealing with siblings, as well as trust and honesty. The instructor is Lori Hameister. This class if for boys and girls entering 4th grade and older.
Board & Brushes (will take place in 2020)
Come and join the painting fun with Backyard Brushes. Participants will paint a memorable bird house (June 30) or picture frame (July 30). Each house and frame will be unique. Students will be instructed step-by-step so their project turns out great. Refreshments will be provided.

Pasitos-Spanish Language Immersion (canceled for 2020)
Students who are enrolled in the Spanish Immersion Program have the opportunity to enrich their Spanish language skills over the summer. During this camp students will learn about culture, science, art, music, and literature from around the world. Teachers from the Rios Spanish Immersion Program will be leading the camp. Registration deadline: May 31, 2019.
STEM Lego Camp (will take place in 2020)
Community Education is working with Youth Enrichment League (YEL) to bring you STEM Enrichment using LEGO bricks for the 21st Century learner. Each STEM class follows four basic components. Teach It!...Each class students are taught the basic STEM engineering concepts behind each project. Build It!...Students use LEGO bricks to build motorized windshield wipers, a piano player, and design their own catapult! Explore It!...Then they use the project to explore basic engineering concepts - this session is focused on lever concepts. Play It!...Finally they play with their project, modify it, create extensions, and have fun working with it. This camp is available for students entering grades 2nd - 6th.
