School Social Workers
School social workers help remove barriers to learning by supporting students’ emotional, social, and family needs. They partner with families, school staff, and community agencies to make sure every child has what they need to succeed.
Here’s how school social workers support students and families:
- Help students cope with emotional or social challenges
- Support families with access to community resources (housing, food, mental health services, etc.)
- Provide short-term counseling and crisis support
- Advocate for students' needs at school and in the community
- Help improve attendance and engagement
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to create supportive learning environments
School social workers are a bridge between home, school, and community—ensuring students are safe, supported, and ready to learn.
