Dear Winhawk families,
The MSHSL Board of Directors on Tuesday announced the plan for the upcoming fall sports season:
- Boys and girls soccer, girls tennis, girls swimming and diving, and boys and girls cross country will start to practice on Monday, Aug. 17.
- Football and volleyball have been moved to the spring with a start date of March 15 and an end date of May 15.
- The traditional spring sports will move to after May 15.
The MSHSL is still working through all of the details that go along with the plan. The Big 9 Conference athletic directors are meeting Friday to reconfigure schedules to meet the new guidelines, which also call for reduced competitions and shorter seasons.
We will announce our complete plans soon, but in the meantime, WAPS will start fall sports on Aug. 17. We will develop health and safety protocols that follow MDE, MDH and MSHSL guidelines for safe play.
The fall Parent-Athlete-Coach meeting is canceled. Each coach will set up an online parent meeting during the first week of the season to make sure you are informed of all the new rules.
Please make sure your student is registered for the fall sports season through our activity registration page: https://winonahs-ar.rschooltoday.com/.
If you need your password changed, please call the activities office at 507-494-1527 next week. We will also need a current physical on file before the start of the fall season. Please note, any student that had a physical that expired after March 2020 or will expire this school year, will be considered current for the entirety of the school year.
Any new information will be posted on the activities web page. Please check back frequently to get up to date information regarding sports and activities.
