The Winona Senior High School and Winona Middle School student councils will hold their annual Herky Turkey Thanksgiving Community Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 21.
The dinner is for retired, senior and community members who might otherwise not have an opportunity for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, buns and dessert. It will be held from 5:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Winona Senior High School, 901 Gilmore Ave.
The meal is free. Free-will donations are accepted and appreciated. Reservations are required. Thanks to a grant from the Elks National Foundation, the dinner will also be able to serve families who qualify for free or reduced lunch.
There are a limited number of meals available.
Reservations are open now through Friday, Nov. 15 and can be made here: https://waps.pub/turkey2024.
The dinner can be enjoyed three ways: A dine-in option in the WSHS Concourse, a drive-through option with pickup at the high school, or by requesting delivery.
Dinner will be served from 5:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the WSHS concourse. Dine-in guests are asked to use Chippewa Street and Lake Drive to enter the WSHS parking lot.
Drive-through meals can be picked up beginning at 5:15 p.m. Please do not come early. There will be pick-ups from high school activities going on.
Delivery for homebound retirees and senior citizens will be made between 5 and 6:30 p.m. Delivery times cannot be given or guaranteed. Please make sure that someone is available to receive the delivery. Meals will not be left if nobody is there.
Reservations will be accepted through Friday, Nov. 15. There will be no reservations accepted after Nov. 15.
You can make a reservation by filling out this form: https://waps.pub/turkey2024.
The online form is the preferred method, but if it is a barrier, you can also call 507-494-1519 to make reservations.
