WSHS Students Donate Spanish Children Books to Gundersen Lutheran Global Partners

Winona Senior High School Spanish 4 students created eleven children books and donated them to the Gundersen Lutheran Global Partners library project. Susan Larsen, WSHS Spanish 4 teacher, said “This project provides reading materials to school lending libraries in Central America.” The Foundation for Winona Area Public Schools and WSHS Principal, Mark Anderson made this opportunity possible for students. Through the books students shared their knowledge of the Spanish language with others in a beneficial and authentic way, while simultaneously contributing to a great cause.

The Spanish 4 students are continuing to find ways to give back to society. Incorporating projects such as the children books, into level 4 Spanish curriculum, the students' intrinsic motivation has increased and has allowed them to synthesize their knowledge through composing, creating, imagining and exploring language.   The students are able to grow and develop confidence in their Spanish abilities, as they become authors.
