Winona Teacher of the Year: Mrs. Mlynczak

Winona Teacher of the Year: Mrs. Mlynczak

Amber MlynczakThe Winona Middle School teacher thought she was just attending the all school assembly this morning to help promote kindness. Little did she know the spotlight would be turned to her.  Mrs. Amber Mlynczak was surprised with the Winona Teacher of the Year; with this nomination, it will qualify her to join the top teachers from Minnesota if she wishes too.

The Winona Education Association chooses a Winona Teacher of the Year based on strict criteria. Some of these includes active engagement that reflects positively on teachers’ role in the communities and must go beyond in service to students, families and the district. Mrs. Mlynczak surpasses these criteria’s. She has been a teacher at Winona Middle school for the past seven years. In her spare time, she is the Winhawks head Volleyball Coach, JV Softball Coach and AVID Coordinator. Within the district, she participates in the Winhawk Way – PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Committee, Principal Advisory Team, School Improvement Team, District Data Team, and Mental Health Committee.

Mrs. Mlynczak is passionate about building relations in the classroom. She hopes that she can help every student find a desire to learn. High-level learning can happen if students feel comfortable in their learning environment and she makes this a top priority. Growing, learning, discovering and mastering will happen for all students when they find success in the classroom through hard work and determination.

Lisa Skifton, one staff member that nominated Mrs. Mlynczak said” She (Amber) actively engages students in her classroom, sets high standards for all her students, genuinely cares about her students and goes above and beyond to reach all students, especially the challenging ones.”

Congratulations to you Amber, Winona Area Public Schools is proud to have you part of our community.
