WALC principal Emily Cassellius speaks to the 19 graduates at a ceremony on Monday, June 7, 2021.

On Monday night, the Winona Area Learning Center celebrated 19 students who have graduated over the last year.

The intimate, personal ceremony highlighted the strong community in the school. WAPS Superintendent Dr. Annette K. Freiheit and several school board members attended.

“You made it,” WALC Principal Emily Cassellius told the graduates. “It hasn’t been easy, but you did it. You persevered through it all and tonight, we will celebrate each of you and this great accomplishment.”

The ALC Student of the Year was Ethen Infield, who also was selected as the senior speaker. In his message to his fellow graduates, he stressed the importance of school and getting your diploma — whenever you can get it.

“There’s no rush,” he said. “No one is going to judge you. You’ll have your diploma.”

The other graduates included: Tiana Allen-Peterson, Dajuane Byrd, Sylinda Davis-Starks, Jacob Dumais, Devin Foster, Ethen Infield, Savanna Klungtvedt, Kaleb Komperud, Jordan Meier, Dontay Moore, Alexus Obiofu, Jacob Randall, Hannah Scholl, Ike Scholl, Peyton Serley, Raven Sneed, Tiffany Stanek, Alicia Thornton and Zachary Weilandt.
