WAPS school board to hold hybrid meetings beginning March 4

Upcoming school board meetings for Winona Area Public Schools will be held in a hybrid format.

Some board members will be in-person at the Winona Senior High School Multi-Purpose Room, which is now the regular meeting location of the board. Other board members and district staff will attend and participate in the meeting via the teleconference platform Zoom.

The next school board meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, March 4. At this time, public attendance at the regular meeting location is not feasible due to the necessary health and safety protocols in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Community members can watch the meeting live at this link, on the Winona Area Public Schools YouTube page, or on HBC-TV Channel 20.

Public comment can be submitted on meeting night between 5:15 and 5:45 p.m. at the following link: https://forms.gle/AsjSw84r3NHyyN4L7

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in mid-March 2020, most meetings of the school board were held via a teleconferencing platform, as allowed by state statute. The board held a hybrid meeting on Nov. 5, 2020 at the high school before rising COVID-19 cases in the community forced the meetings to return to a virtual format.

It was the first time a regular meeting was held at the high school since 1997. The previous location was held in the Council Chambers at City Hall in downtown Winona.
