On Wednesday, Oct. 2, Winona Area Public Schools elementaries will participate in a Walk/Bike to School Day, joining schools and organizations across the nation in doing so.
The event is a fun way to motivate kids to become more physically active.
In order to participate, drop off your student(s) at the appropriate location by 7:15 a.m. Adult volunteers will walk and bike with the group to school.
The locations are:
Jefferson Elementary: John Nett Rec Center (10th and Vila streets on Cotter campus)
Goodview Elementary: Goodview Fire Station, 4135 W. Fifth St., Goodview
W-K Elementary: Sinclair Park (Seventh and Liberty streets)
Please arrive no later than 7:15 a.m. The group will start walking from each location at 7:20 a.m.
If you choose to walk with your children, please join us for breakfast once you arrive at your school. Students can use their breakfast/lunch number and adults eat for free!
Volunteers are also needed! In order to make this event a success, we welcome parents/volunteers to help walk with the kids at each site. If you are able to help on Wednesday, Oct. 2, email linda.jacobs@winona.k12.mn.us to volunteer. Then, plan on joining us for breakfast with your children.
