Video: Goodview teacher recognized for saving the life of a student

A kindergarten teacher at Goodview Elementary was honored for a life-saving reaction to a student in trouble. 

Andrew Norman was given the Life Saving Award by the City of Goodview for helping one of his students who was choking at snack time. Norman was presented the award at an all-school assembly on Friday, May 12. Several officials from the City of Goodview were on hand, including Mayor Ben Klinger and representatives from the police and fire departments. 

“I’m just glad I was there and aware,” said Norman, who was a little caught off guard by all the attention. “This means a lot. I really appreciate it.”

Also present was the mother of the student who was helped by Norman. She was grateful he was there to help so quickly, and she said her child is now a little more cautious while eating, but is otherwise fine.
