Study Island Directions for Grades 2 – 4

Study Island is a great way to practice and reinforce skills that have already been taught, as well as stretch a student’s math skills to see if they already know something that hasn’t been formally taught in school.  We suggest having a notebook or scratch paper when solving the problems. We want the kids to be able to find the answer- not just have lucky guesses. At school they will be required to show the work on most problems.  If students struggle on a topic, the program will automatically move them (shown with an arrow on their skills screen) to an easier version of their topic, and they must work their way back up.  Our goal by the end of the year is to have a Blue Ribbon in as many topics as possible.

  1. Go to : www.studyisland.com
  2. Log in: Username: first initial of first name entire last name@WAPS

Example: John Doe would be JDOE@WAPS (capital letters does not matter)

                    Password: 1234

     3.   If working in Reading, choose the “ELA (2010 Standards)” option

     4.   If working in Math, choose the “Math (2007 Standards)” option

     5.   Click on a skill to review, try to choose one that doesn’t have a Blue Ribbon next to it.  The Blue Ribbons show the student has met the target for that skill.

     6.   Click on the mode you want to play (typically we choose Game Mode, Practice, or Lesson).

     7.    If you choose Game Mode, you will need to click on the game you wish to play.  You will need to answer a question correctly before you can play the game

HAVE FUN!
