Ross Stores makes donation to WAPS Clothing Closet

Ross Stores recently made a $250 donation to the to the Winona Area Public Schools Clothing Closet, which provides clothing and other resources free of charge to students in need.

The WAPS Clothing Closet initiative was established to make a difference in the lives of our low-income and underserved student populations in the district, especially at the secondary level. A growing number of students are not making academic gains and have repeated patterns of absenteeism. The WAPS Clothing Closet initiative shifts away from punishing students and toward meeting their needs so the relationships between student and community can be repaired and restored.

The WAPS Clothing Closet provides discreet access to laundry services, free clothing, personal items and more to students in need to increase student attendance, academic success and student engagement and connectedness to school.

An unused room in the high school was converted into a closet to permanently house these resources.

Donations are being accepted for the WAPS Clothing Closet. Please see this flyer for more information.
