More than 60 students join National Honor Society

Forty-one seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society on May 10, 2023.

More than 60 students were inducted into the National Honor Society at Winona Senior High School in a ceremony Wednesday night. 

The inductees included 34 returning seniors, seven new seniors and 24 juniors. 

Advisor Sarah Dixen hosted the ceremony, while the guest speaker was diane leutgeb munson of the Winona Catholic Worker organization.

There were 24 juniors inducted into the National Honor Society.

NHS student board members Freyja Wolfe, Kayleigh Cottrell, Abigail Russell and Nathaniel Dennis each gave a speech about the pillars of NHS — character, service, leadership and scholarship. Carly Decker introduced munson, while Julia Steinfeldt led the candle lighting. 

The 34 returning seniors include: Isaac Allred, Olivia Becker, Owen Brietzke, Rory Briggs, Gwenyth Buswell, Kayleigh Cottrell (board member), Ava Dahlke, Carly Decker (board member), Nathaniel Dennis (board member), Payton Eastep, Abigail Ellenburg, Anna Florness, Molly Heinert, Delaney Hermsen, Ruby Hetzel, Rachel Lepper, Jared Loos, Katrina Loos, Macy McNally, Sophia Nisbit, Vianna O’Hara, Ava Pike, Myles Rasmussen, Abigail Russell (vice president), Xavier Schultz, Sarah Sheridan, Luke Smeby, Nicole Spartz, Morgan Starzecki, Julie Steinfeldt (board member), Nico Stern, Kate Thompson, Freyja Wolfe (president), Wesley Wollan.

The seven new seniors include: Natalie Horeck, Claira Jordan, Ella Larson, Emily Lejk, Isabel Marty, Jaida Oudal, Julia Reeck.

Juniors inducted include: Coral Bausman, Aliyah Bebout, Melanie Butenhoff, Julia Driscoll, Bailey Grinsteinner, Adele Jacobsen, Marin Keller, Lacey Kimmerle, Lauren Kimmerle, Mattie Kreisel, Allison Lejk, Miranda Lindaman, Isabell Livingston, Allison McEntaffer, Erika Mueller, Mollie Ping, Faith Quinn, Omar Rodriguez Porras, Diptanshu Roka, Mariyah Rumpca-Veronese, Jay Spartz, Benna Wells, Harper Wolner, Hailey Yender.

National Honor Society promotes the ideals of scholarship, leadership, service and character.
