Lunch date reward continues for Jefferson kindergarten students
Jefferson Amber Scott lunch dates

Jefferson kindergarten teacher Amber Scott will continue to hold lunch dates with her students during distance learning.

Even during distance learning, students can still have lunch with Amber Scott.

The Jefferson kindergarten teacher often had lunch with students during the school year. It was something the students could earn by being respectful, responsible and safe inside their classroom and around the school building. The students could put their name in the cup for the daily scratch off, and one of the scratch off rewards was a lunch date with Mrs. Scott. The students could choose 1-2 friends to eat in the classroom.

During distance learning, the tradition continues — although it looks a little different.

Students can now request to eat lunch with their teacher. Mrs. Scott chooses a time that works for the child that requested it, and then if they want it opened to the class, she will send an invite to others.

During the first lunch date, pictured above, students enjoyed eating lunch with each other and sharing about the things they are doing at home.

“Students need to continue to build relationships with peers and myself,” Mrs. Scott said. “At these times of uncertainty, I want to have as much normalcy as I can for my students.

“They deserve my attention and compassion now just like they did when we were in the classroom together.”
