Due to the ordered school closure, all district events through March 27 have been postponed or canceled.
Included is the Kindergarten Open House, previously scheduled for Thursday, March 26 at elementary school sites.
A makeup date has not been scheduled. Please check winonaschools.org/kindergarten for information when it becomes available. WAPS will also communicate directly with kindergarten families when a rescheduled date has been finalized.
Early childhood screening appointments for Thursday, March 19 and Thursday, March 26 are canceled. Appointments for children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2020 will be rescheduled, but all others are being encouraged to wait until fall to screen their student.
Elementary school conferences set for Thursday, March 19 will be replaced by calls home to the student’s family. Those plans are still being developed.
MSHSL has canceled all sporting events through April 6 and has released guidance regarding informal and voluntary practices. Coaches are not to have any direct contact with athletes and cannot suggest that athletes have “captain’s practices,” but they can provide optional individual workout plans.
At an emergency school board meeting Tuesday night, board members voted to hold meetings online. The meetings will still be streamed and recorded, and at least one board member will be in a public place for those who don't have Internet access but still want to observe the meeting. The next board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 26.
At this time, a decision whether to cancel or postpone district events after March 27 has not been made.
