Kaia Hamilton sweeps senior orchestra awards
Kaia Hamilton WSHS Senior Orchestra

WSHS senior Kaia Hamilton won two senior awards — the CodaBow Award and the National School Orchestra Association Award — as voted on by her orchestra peers.

Every spring, two orchestra awards are voted by members of the Winona Senior High School 10th-12th Grade Orchestra following criteria established by each organization.

This year's recipient of both awards — the CodaBow Award and the National School Orchestra Association Award — is Kaia Hamiltion.

The NSOA Award is given to a senior who has shown outstanding contribution to the success of the orchestra and a high degree of cooperation, among other criteria relating to creating a better ensemble through a student's involvement. The CodaBow Award is given to a senior who embodies inspiration, joy, and personal growth that string playing provides (criteria as defined by NSOA and CodaBow).

Hamilton has been a dedicated violinist in the school orchestra, as well as Winona Fiddlers, for several years. She enjoys playing, has accepted and sought out challenges to increase her level of musicianship, and has been a leader within the violin section and the orchestra. She is the daughter of Alison DeNio and Wes Hamilton.

Four seniors from WSHS Orchestra were chosen for the 2020 Big 9 Select Orchestra: Kaia Hamilton (violin), Kaylee Niemeyer (violin), Jonas Trombetta (viola), and Ryka Parsi (viola).
