The Foundation for Winona Area Public Schools earlier this week approved three grants that will help elementary students stay active and engaged in music classes whether they are in school or at home.
The Foundation approved grants for the purchase of Individual Elementary Student Rhythm Sticks. Due to health and safety concerns with sanitizing shared instruments, the elementary music teachers felt it would be best for each individual student to have their own pair of rhythm sticks to use as part of their WAPS music curriculum instruction time.
The sticks can be brought home if there is distance learning.
Having the rhythm sticks will enable students to participate in lessons according to the Minnesota state music standards.
Three individual grants were approved — $486.50 at for students at W-K, $486.50 for students at Jefferson and $347.50 for students at Goodview — for a grand total of $1,320.50.
