Hallee Hoeppner, the all-time leading scorer in Winona Senior High School girls basketball history, was named a preseason All-American by D3hoops.com.
Hoeppner, now a senior at UW-Eau Claire, was a fourth-team All-America selection after averaging 18.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game as a junior. She was named the WIAC Player of the Year and named All-Region First Team.
Hoeppner helped lead the Winhawks to the 2016 MSHSL Class AAA state championship game, and she graduated with school records in career field goals (520), as well as 3-pointers made in a career (146) and season (62), in addition to the school record for career points (1,437). She was named the Winona Daily News Player of the Year in 2016.
She had 21 points and 9 rebounds in just 23 minutes of action in a 71-33 season-opening win over St. Scholastica on Friday. The Blugolds return to action at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel, then play at home against Simpson College at 8 p.m. Friday and Wartburg College at 5 p.m. Saturday.
