The WAPS school board in February approved a revised school calendar that changed two days to “No School - Teacher Workshop” days. Those days are:
- Wednesday, March 23
- Thursday, May 19
The board also directed WAPS administration to provide free child care for students in Grades K-6, transportation and meals on these days. In order to plan effectively, we need to know how many families will need these services on these days.
Please fill out the Google Form linked here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf4KaIk7cN2js8h4wBpxinNJK6w4KuGo5TUc-b6QgMb8KV_Rg/viewform. One form will need to be filled out for each child in Grades K-6 needing the care. Even if you are not accessing child care, transportation and meals on these days, we need you to fill out the form.
The plan for March 23 and May 19 is for children to attend their respective schools. The start and end times will remain the same. The bus routes will run as normal, and children who normally access transportation on school days will be able to use the bus on these days.
No educational instruction will be delivered, but WAPS Educational Assistants and support staff will provide supervision with activities for the children. Activities will vary depending on the number of children signed up and the projected weather forecast. More information will be sent to the families requesting care closer to the dates.
The free child care will end at the designated end of the school day. Parent pick up and bus routes at the end of the day will be at the traditional time.
Key Kids will be available starting at 2:15 pm for families enrolled in the after school child care program at the respective elementary buildings.
