A new kindergarten section has been added at Jefferson

Hello families of Jefferson kindergartners - 

We are pleased to announce that we have added an additional section of kindergarten at Jefferson Elementary! There will be two sections of general education kindergarten in addition to one section of kindergarten in the Ríos Spanish Language Dual Immersion program. 

Our new kindergarten teacher is Melanie Anderson. Mrs. Anderson has worked at Winona Area Public Schools for four years, most recently serving as a Title I teacher helping students build their reading skills. She is a parent of three WAPS students, including one at Jefferson Elementary. 

Amber Scott will also return as a kindergarten teacher. Ms. Scott is a dedicated and creative teacher who has been with Winona Area Public Schools for more than a decade. She is also the parent of two WAPS students, including one at Jefferson. 

The Ríos kindergarten teacher is Elsa Prigge. This is Sra. Prigge’s third year at Jefferson and Winona Area Public Schools.

You can meet members of the kindergarten team at Popsicles in the Park at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28.

• You can learn who your kindergarten teacher is by logging into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. 
• Visit https://winonamn.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/winona.jsp or access the Parent Portal app. 
• Click on your child’s name
• In the left-hand menu, click on “Schedule” (On the app, you will need to expand the menu by clicking on the button in the upper left-hand corner)
• Your child’s teacher will be listed

If you signed up for a conference with Amber Scott, and now your teacher is Melanie Anderson, you do not need to sign up for a new conference time. Your time will be the same with Mrs. Anderson. You may have already received an email that your conference has been moved to a new teacher.

If you have not signed up for a conference yet, please do so with your assigned teacher.

In addition to the conference with a teacher, families can tour the school, drop off school supplies, complete paperwork and meet support personnel. 

The first day of school for Grades K-4 will be Tuesday, Sept. 10.
