Hold at Winona Senior High School earlier today (5/20)
Dear WSHS families,
This message is to inform you that Winona Senior High School experienced a hold for approximately 10 minutes today due to a medical emergency.
A hold is a Standard Response Protocol (SRP) used to ensure emergency personnel can move quickly and efficiently through the building in response to a medical situation. During a medical hold, students and staff are asked to remain in their current locations and allow emergency responders clear passage. Please see the handout linked here for more information on our Standard Response Protocols.
The situation has been resolved, and normal school activities have resumed. At no point were students or staff in any danger. In order to protect the privacy of those involved, we are unable to share any additional information.
We understand that any disruption to the school day can be concerning and unsettling, especially for students who may have seen the emergency or the response. If your child needs help processing this event, we have licensed support staff ready to assist. There are also several resources and tips available on the National Association of School Psychologists website that could help.
Thank you,
Nathan Warneke
Principal
Winona Senior High School
