Standard Reunification Method (SRM)
In the rare event of a school emergency that requires students to be picked up, Winona Area Public Schools uses the Standard Reunification Method (SRM) to safely reunite every child with their parent or guardian.
- The SRM is a structured process designed to:
- Verify the identity of each parent or guardian.
- Keep accurate records of where every student is located.
- Ensure a calm, orderly, and safe release of students.
- Provide families with updates and instructions through official district communications.
We know that during a crisis, your first instinct is to go directly to your child’s school. But arriving early can disrupt emergency procedures or delay reunification. If an SRM is activated, we will share clear instructions through Infinite Campus Messenger, our website and social media.
By following this plan, we can bring students and families back together as quickly and safely as possible — while keeping everyone’s well-being at the center of our response.
