Winona Area Public Schools is committed to providing transportation to district students as well as area non-public and charter schools during the 2020-21 school year. However, we will need to meet Minnesota Department of Health requirements. Those requirements could change depending on the learning model used by WAPS.
If WAPS is in an in-person model, buses will run at near capacity with physical distancing guidelines applying only to students’ distance from the bus driver.
In a hybrid model, buses will run at 50 percent capacity and physical distancing will be enforced unless students are in the same household.
All students and drivers will need to wear a face covering while on the bus.
Due to limited availability of buses and bus drivers, we will not be able to add additional routes, but some buses may run multiple routes in a tier.
Transportation will be provided to school buildings only for in-school days to those students who are eligible to receive transportation. It will not be provided for students receiving child care.
We are looking to see if there are families who would be more comfortable transporting the student(s) in their family directly to and from their school. By completing this form, you are opting out of WAPS-provided transportation for the 2020-21 school year.
