The camps, activities and enrichment opportunities listed on this page are offered through WAPS Community Education and are open to anyone in the community. Online registration is available through the Community Education registration website linked here. The "Register" buttons listed below should take you directly to the page for registration for that particular offering. Registrations can also be completed in-person at the WAPS Community Education office, 903 Gilmore Ave., or at the Winona Middle School After School Activities Office at 1570 Homer Road.

The Winona Winhawk Boys Basketball Camp is an all-around skill development camp that provides athletes the opportunity to improve their ball handling, shooting, offensive skills, and defensive skills. We are excited to have our current Winhawk basketball team be a part of this camp again this year. Our camp offers a variety of different games and challenges for the boys to compete in.  We hope to see you there!  This camp is open to boys entering 1st through 3rd grade.  Fee includes a camp t-shirt.  Registration deadline:  June 1 (to be guaranteed a t-shirt).

Bricktopia Master Builders Camp (Grades 1-5)

Community Education is working with Youth Enrichment League (YEL) to bring you Bricktopia Master Builders Camp. This camp is for students entering grades 1-5. Are you up for a LEGO Brick challenge? Do you have what it takes to be a Master Builder? If so, you are in the right place. We've saved our most challenging engineering projects (a robotic dog, motorized bug, race cars, and more) for this camp. All challenging for any connoisseur of LEGO bricks. Students then use these projects (and more) to investigate engineering concepts. We keep it fun too with open ended, creative projects for the students. Chess Summer Camp (Grades 1-5)

Community Education is working with Youth Enrichment League (YEL) to bring you Chess Summer Camp. This camp is for students entering grades 1-5. All levels welcome. The YEL Teach It!...Practice It!...Play It! method keeps chess students progressing with 60 chess lessons and thousands of puzzles, as well as guided games and an end-of-week in-class tournament. Child & Babysitting Safety Class

Child & Babysitting Safety Class

The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube “vlogger” style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content along with handouts, demonstrations, and additional resources. At the end of class, the students will receive their certification card along with instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book. From getting started with your business, to collaborating with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. This class is for students entering 4th-8th grade (boys and girls).

Who's ready to mix some colors? In this day camp, we will enjoy lots of fun crafts and activities that revolve around colors! Join Community Education and Winona County 4-H for our 3rd - 5th grade Cooking Camp. Exploring Sports 2-Day Camp (Grades K-4)

Touchdown! Goal! SCORE! Who is ready to learn about the variety of different sports? In this two day camp, your child will get to explore the fundamentals of a variety of sports. Please remember to wear tennis shoes and athletic clothes. Also, please bring a water bottle and sunscreen with. A snack will be provided. Participants must pre-register for this camp by July 2.

Community Education is working with the Youth Enrichment League (YEL) to bring fencing classes to Winona. This class is for students entering grades 2-12. New and returning students invited. Your favorite instructors return with more knowledge, refined coaching skills, and of course, your favorite fencing games and arm bands. Safety is our first priority. There is no doubt that players will leave camp feeling further developed in their playing abilities as well as feeling excited about their future role in the Winhawk Football Family. Go Winhawks! Home Alone Skills Class

Home Alone Skills Class

Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared. This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and first aid tips.  Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.  Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child.  This class is open to all students entering 3rd grade and up (boys and girls).

Junior Coding and Video Games with Scratch (Grades 3-6)

Community Education is working with Youth Enrichment League (YEL) to bring you Junior Coding and Video Games with Scratch. This camp is for students entering grades 3-6. STEM Video Game Enrichment for the 21st century learner. Each YEL Coding class follows four basic components: Teach It!...Students learn different video games and storytelling design techniques (movement blocks, control blocks, basic animation, adding scores, etc.), Code It!...Students use Scratch to code their own story and video games, Explore It!...Students can write their own story and video game code, experiment with it and test new options. Our collaborative learning environment encourages students to learn from each other, Keep It!...Students keep their stories and video games online with Scratch and can access it and expand upon it at anytime. Scratch is an MIT created and monitored, kid-safe web interface. It uses a drag and drop programming. Sign up today to THINK, LEARN, and PLAY WELL with YEL!

Let's Explore Winona

Let's explore our beautiful town! In this day camp, your children will learn about the wildlife, water, and all the fun things to do that are right here where we live. We will enjoy fun activities and walk around the lake (weather permitting). Please remember to bring your lunch for an outdoor picnic by the lake! Community Education is working with Youth Enrichment League (YEL) to bring you Robotics Scout 'Bots. This class is for students entering grades 1-5. Build and code space rovers to scout out Mars, the moon, and other extraterrestrial environments. Also, create a dragster and volcano alarm to learn basic computer programming while having fun! Students will meet at Saint Mary's University - Meet outside Brother Jerome Rademacher Nordic Ski Center/back of Leopold Hall. Go past main entrance and take a left on Gilmore Valley Road. Take a left into the orange parking lot. The fee includes a camp t-shirt.

The camp will be led by the Winona Senior High School Girls Soccer Team.  Young players will be broken up into age-appropriate groups and will focus on the basic skills of soccer, including dribbling, passing, and shooting.  Designed with FUN in mind, this camp will teach the skills that young players can build on.  Athletes will receive a camp t-shirt.

Players will work on fundamentals of the game including passing, setting, and serving. We will include 3 v.3, 4 v.4, and 6 v.6 structured competitive situations, station work, and offensive and defensive positioning work. The last day of camp will include contests and awards. This camp is for girls and boys entering grades 3-8. The fee for camp includes a t-shirt.
