The Herky Bus, the WAPS Community Education department’s new community outreach vehicle, is ready to inspire, engage and empower Winhawks of all ages throughout Winona County.
The Herky Bus is the brainchild of Community Education staff, who had the idea to remodel a used bus into a versatile “classroom on wheels” that can be used for parenting classes, early childhood education opportunities, adult education classes, community events, art activities and so much more.
The inside of the bus has been remodeled to include a soft floor perfect for an ECFE circle time activity, electrical outlets to plug in devices, a monitor that can be moved outside if needed and plenty of storage space for toys, games, books and resources for Winhawks of all ages.
The Herky Bus was paid for with a combination of Community Education department reserve funds, as well as ESSER funding targeted for community engagement activities.
