Adult Literacy

The program offers classes in GED preparation, Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English as Second Language. Classes are held at Central School, 317 Market Street.

GED-General Education Diploma

Did you drop out of high school and now want to come back and get your high school equivalency diploma? These classes will help you prepare for the GED® tests by covering the four subject areas of language arts, science, social studies, and math.

Classes are held:

Monday-Thursday 8:30-11:30 AM Mondays-Wednesdays 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Central School, 317 Market Street.

Classes are FREE. Orientation is required and takes place at various times throughout each month.

ESL-English Second Language

Grammar, pronunciation and conversation instruction for adult immigrants and refugees wanting to learn how to speak, read, and write English.

Classes are held:

Monday-Thursday 8:30-11:30 AM Mondays-Wednesdays 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Classes are FREE and you can register at the first class meeting.

ABE-Adult Basic Education

Adult Basic Education classes are for learners who want to improve skills in reading, math, spelling & writing.

CSI-College Success Initiative

This program helps students with the essential math, English, and study skills to be successful at the post-secondary level.

Winona Digital Literacy Project

Winona DLP is a collaboration started between Winona Public Library and WAPS Adult Literacy. We are excited to have Minnesota State College Southeast as an important partner!

Provide ongoing training free of charge, for any community member needing to enhance their digital literacy skills through specific courses and open labs. We believe that improving the lives of individuals through digital literacy will only benefit our community as a whole.

Project COMPASS

Project COMPASS, Winona Area Public Schools Community Education Adult Disability Program, provides slower paced classes for all, customized classes for people 14+ with disabilities, parent and professional development workshops and support groups. The mission of Project COMPASS is to assist all people to realize their potential by providing a wide range of learning experiences.
