Attendance

Winona Area Learning Center Attendance Line: 507.494.1460

According to state statute, every child between 7 and 17 must attend public or private school. In addition, research shows that students who attend less than 90% of the time have significant drops in achievement and are less likely to graduate on time. For this reason, attendance is extremely important at the ALC.

For each day that your child will be absent or tardy, parents/guardians are required to call the Attendance Line at (507) 494-1460, before 8:00 a.m. if possible. Please state your child’s name and reason for absence. Failure to report your child’s absence will result in the absence being marked as “unexcused.” Depending on the circumstances, a doctor’s note may be required to excuse the absence(s).

More information is available in the student handbook linked here.
